Ryan Crisman on Life Between Beer and Biomanufacturing [VIDEO]

A man of many interests, Ryan Crisman serves as both the executive director of the Gates Biomanufacturing Facility and the co-owner of newly opened Park Hill brewery Longtable Brewhouse.

Gates Biomanufacturing Facility (GBF) was built in 2015 and is operated by the Gates Center for Regenerative Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. It is a manufacturing facility focused on cutting edge therapies including cell-based therapies and protein biologics.

In this video, Crisman tells videographer and interviewer Scott Cowperthwaite that the facility takes research from the university and translates it into clinical trials to treat patients. And, Crisman notes that he wants to keep cell therapy technology and companies here in Colorado to make it a hub for the therapy.

In addition to his experiences at GBF, Crisman tells Cowperthwaite about how Longtable quickly came to fruition after a conversation on a backpacking trip. Longtable opened in May 2018. The brewery's staple drink? A German-Style Helles beer.

This interview was conducted by Scott Cowperthwaite as part of a new series with ColoradoBiz, "Behind the Biz,” in which Cowperthwaite profiles Colorado companies on location, asking questions and telling stories that get to the heart of what makes each business tick.
