Colorado Business Committee for the Arts (CBCA) celebrates innovative partnerships, generous philanthropy, creative businesses, and stellar leadership across the Colorado — as recognized at CBCA’s Business for the Arts Awards, presented by EY and PNC Bank, that took place on March 15, 2022.

As part of the CBCA awards and celebration, The Arts & Business Partnership Award Honorees are exemplary organizations that have gone above and beyond to support the arts and creative industries.

Meet: Colorado Chautauqua.

Located at the base of the Flatirons in Boulder, Honoree, The Colorado Chautauqua, is one of the few remaining Chautauquas in the U.S. and one of 26 National Historic Landmarks in Colorado.

Named after a Iroquois word, a Chautauqua is historically known as a social gathering designed to bring people together over new ideas and cultural enrichment, which grew into The Chautauqua Movement that spanned across American communities in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Chautauquas continue to rise and renew today. The Colorado Chautauqua represents the West in preserving the movement’s history, while welcoming visitors annually for lodging and events to open space trails and educational programs.

Recently, The Colorado Chautauqua partnered with the Cal-Wood Education Center for a communal Art in the Park project. The groups brought together local artists in creating handmade benches from trees damaged by the Cal-Wood Fire, raising awareness for wildfire protection and land recovery.

Emceed by CBS4 Anchorman and Award-winning Journalist Jim Benemann and introduced by Director of Development for The Colorado Chautauqua Debbie Stewart, learn more how the group was honored and how they continue to support the arts community today:
