Dr. Penina Axelrad is the Joseph T. Negler Professor of Aerospace Engineering Sciences at the University of Colorado Boulder, where she has been a faculty member since 1992 and served as department chair from 2012 to 2017. In 2019, she was elected a member of the National Academy of Engineering. Her research focuses on technology and algorithms for position, navigation and timing across space, airborne, marine and land environments, with extensive work in Global Navigation Satellite Systems. Axelrad has authored or co-authored 76 journal papers and 147 conference papers and led or contributed to $17.5 million in research grants and contracts. She is active in the Institute of Navigation and a fellow of ION and AIAA.
