Maha Kamal founded the Colorado Family Law Project in Denver nearly a decade ago and has built a career focused on access to justice. She is co-chair of the Paraprofessionals and Legal Services subcommittee at the Colorado Supreme Court, helping establish one of the first licensed legal paraprofessional programs in the country. Fluent in English, Spanish, and Urdu/Hindi, she is also the author of Colorado Family Law: A Trail Guide (2024). A four-time SuperLawyers Rising Star, she serves on the Board of Directors for the Art Students League of Denver. “About 75 to 80 percent of Coloradans are going through the family law system unrepresented,” she says. “The LP program was launched to help alleviate some of those costs and concerns.”
