Mark Mathews concentrates his practice on oil and gas, carbon management, environmental contamination, and land use law, and has been involved in many of the major disputes facing the energy industry in Colorado. He has successfully represented oil and gas, mining, and real estate development clients in litigation and regulatory rulemakings covering preemption and royalty issues, hazardous waste contamination, zoning disputes, and land use permitting. Mathews serves as outside regulatory and litigation counsel for the Colorado Oil and Gas Association and outside litigation counsel for the American Petroleum Institute, representing both organizations in high-profile matters before the Energy and Carbon Management Commission. He also counsels real estate interests and lenders on environmental matters, including contaminated properties, hazardous substance remediation, and PFAS contamination.
