Cheley Colorado Camps is a mission-driven summer camp organization dedicated to “building the lasting character and resiliency of young people, creating unique life experiences in a challenging and nurturing natural environment.” Founded by the Cheley family and now led by President Jeff Cheley, the organization has grown into a nationally recognized leader in youth development while maintaining deep Colorado roots and year-round operations.
Over the decades, Cheley advanced a model that blends outdoor challenges with intentional mentorship. Its year-round team supports large seasonal staff, with returning employees frequently citing the culture and flexibility that draw them back. The organization also hosts a teen leadership experience for military youth and a program for burn survivors, reflecting a longstanding commitment to service and inclusion.
Today, Cheley’s work centers on delivering safe, transformative camp experiences and supporting staff well-being. The organization participates in CampWell and provides access to an employee assistance program that offers mental and physical health resources. Professional learning is embedded through certifications, workshops and leadership development opportunities, and year-round staff mentor seasonal team members each summer.
