Duck Donuts CEO resigns amid company-wide layoffs

The CEO of Duck Donuts, Betsy Hamm, has resigned from her position amid layoffs.
“Eight years ago, my Duck Donuts journey began after meeting the founder and seeing the incredible potential of a brand with a deeply loyal fan base and superior product,” Hamm said in a public statement. “Serving as CEO for nearly four years has been the greatest honor of my career, and I couldn’t be prouder of how far Duck Donuts has come.”
Duck Donuts opened its first location in North Carolina in 2007 and expanded to 215 locations in 24 states, including Colorado, across the United States and several international locations, according to the company’s website. Hamm joined Duck Donuts’ marketing team in 2016. She was promoted to Chief Operating Officer in 2017 and moved into the role of CEO in 2021.
“From 20 locations to nearly 200, spanning new markets and countries, it has been an extraordinary ride,” Hamm stated. “It hasn’t always been easy, but the people have made it truly special.”
“Duck Donuts continues to grow and develop as a brand,” the brand commented in an email to the Central Penn Business Journal, a sister publication of ColoradoBiz. “Duck Donuts appreciates Hamm’s leadership she provided throughout her years with the company.”
Restaurant Business reported several executives were laid off or have left the company, in addition to a number of store closures in Charlotte, Louisville, Kentucky, Ohio and Minnesota, among others.
