Jessup Farm Barrel House has a new owner, raising questions about what’s next for the beer.
The main bar area, located on the second floor of a 140-year-old restored barn, is being transformed into Sugar Beet Saloon under Sarah Shireman. Currently closed for renovations, the website says the saloon will offer a casual western-style vibe and a “true Colorado experience,” raising questions about what, if anything, will change with the food and drinks.
When the space first opened, brewer Jeff Albarella collaborated with Funkwerks to experiment with barrel-aged beers, using barrels that had previously held wine, whiskey, bourbon and more, according to previous Coloradoan reporting.
The Sugar Beet Saloon website shows the space is moving away from on-site brewing, though it will still feature a variety of drinks. The current menu lists 16 taps and bottles, including Coors Light, Modelo and beers from local breweries such as Odell, New Belgium, Horse & Dragon, Stodgy and Zwei.
Cocktails, mocktails and nonalcoholic options like kombucha and Coke products will also be available. Two of Jessup Farm Barrel House’s original beers — I-900 Pilsner and House Vanilla Feat of Strength — are listed, though it’s unclear whether they will carry over to the full concept.
