As president of Colliers’ Denver office, Brad Calbert oversees a team of more than 70 people while also consulting on and investing in deals that cross his desk. In his 45 years in commercial real estate, Calbert has been involved in the sale or finance of more than 30 million square feet of transactions, and since early 2024, the office has closed more than 800 transactions valued at $1.5 billion. “Distress produces opportunities,” said Calbert.

“To me, commercial real estate is not a job, it’s a lifestyle,” noted Calbert. “There’s an old saying: If you want to get hit, you’ve got to play in traffic. And that’s what we do.”

Most of the office’s associates have worked with Calbert for decades. “We hire people, not numbers,” he said. “Here, the perpetuation of culture is paramount for us, which is why we have very little turnover in an industry that is characteristically known for high turnover.”
