CENTENNIAL, Colo. — and have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly develop portable fast-charging systems for the eFlyer fleet, a move they say will accelerate the growth of in the market.

In Brief:
  • Bye Aerospace and Electro.Aero sign fast-charging partnership
  • Portable chargers will power eFlyer aircraft in under 30 minutes
  • Joint effort supports growing electric pilot training market
  • Global pilot training market projected to triple by 2032

The agreement was signed July 23 at the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2025 airshow. The collaboration aims to deliver scalable, aviation-friendly charging solutions to support the increasing demand for all-electric training aircraft, according to a spokesman.

Bye Aerospace, which is building its full-scale prototype at Centennial Airport, said the partnership will support flight schools and other operators with faster, more efficient turnaround between training flights. Electro.Aero’s portable 40kW, 80kW and 240kW chargers include a dual-cable option on the 240kW model, enabling simultaneous charging of two aircraft in less than 30 minutes.

“As we prepare for our full-scale prototype’s inaugural flight, we are excited to work with Electro.Aero to demonstrate the operational utility our technologies bring to the underserved pilot training market,” said Rod Zastrow, CEO,   Bye Aerospace. “Our combined solution offers fast, simultaneous charging that will support the demanding pace of flight instruction with lower operating costs.”

Electro.Aero CEO Joshua Portlock said his company is proud to support Bye Aerospace’s leadership in fixed-wing electric aviation. “We believe our portable fast chargers will enable the high volume of electric eFlyer flights needed to boost pilot training output for airlines, business aviation and other uses,” he said.

The pilot training market is projected to grow significantly over the next decade. According to Fortune Business Insights, the global market was valued at $9.37 billion in 2024 and is expected to reach $24.86 billion by 2032. In the U.S., the market is forecast to grow from $1.57 billion in 2022 to $4.93 billion by 2030.

The partnership marks a key step in advancing commercially viable electric aviation and addressing infrastructure needs in high-use training environments, the companies said.
