DENVER — The Denver Art Museum will offer free admission and host an outdoor art market Aug. 1 as part of Colorado’s 150th anniversary celebration.
The Colorado Day Art Market will run from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the museum plaza, featuring art and crafts for sale from nearly 50 Colorado artists and artisans.
The museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. as part of a Scientific and Cultural Facilities District Free Day. Admission includes the Hamilton Building, Martin Building and Kirkland Museum.
Programming will include art activities, tours, artist demonstrations and discussions about Colorado artists and locations. Visitors can design license plates with the Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Colorado artist Larysa Medina will lead a studio demonstration from noon to 3 p.m. Medina designed the Colorado Chicana/o Pride license plate.
Native Arts artists-in-residence CooXooEii Black, Adrian Stevens, Sean Snyder and Benjamin L. West will discuss their installations in the museum’s Indigenous Arts of North America galleries from 2 to 4 p.m.
The museum is at 100 W. 14th Avenue Parkway in Denver. The event coincides with the Colorado Day Community Fest, which will include programs at other Golden Triangle museums.
