Energy Fuels appoints Ross Bhappu as president

DENVER (July 31, 2025) — Inc., a leading U.S. producer of uranium, and other critical minerals, has announced that Ross R. Bhappu was named president of the company effective Aug. 4.

Mark S. Chalmers, who currently serves as president, chief executive officer and a director, will remain in his roles as CEO and director. The leadership change is part of the company’s long-term succession plan.

“We are delighted to welcome Ross to the Energy Fuels team,” Chalmers said. “Ross has over 35 years of experience in mining and private equity, including nearly 25 years with Resource Capital Funds. He brings strong technical and financial expertise in project development, valuation, mergers and acquisitions and capital sourcing. I look forward to working with him and the additional skills he brings to our team.”

Bhappu earned a Ph.D. in mineral economics from the Colorado School of Mines, along with B.S. and M.S. degrees in metallurgical engineering from the University of Arizona. He began his career at Cyprus Minerals Company before joining Newmont Mining Corporation, where he held both technical and financial positions and gained experience in copper concentrate marketing.

He later served as CEO of GTN Copper Corporation, focusing on the redevelopment of the Cyprus Tahono Copper Project in Arizona. In 2001, he joined Resource Capital Funds, where he played a key role in acquiring Mountain Pass, the only operating rare earth mine in the United States. Bhappu also led the reestablishment of Molycorp Inc. and served as its chairman from 2008 to 2013.
