Jack Tanner, director and senior shareholder at Denver-based Fairfield and Woods, has been a fixture at the firm since 1987, making him its longest-tenured member. A self-described problem solver, his practice centers on complex commercial litigation and receiverships, representing clients ranging from Microsoft and Noble Energy to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. He has served on the Colorado Bar Association’s Ethics Committee since 1995 and provides an annual continuing legal education course on ethics for in-house counsel. “A mediocre settlement is better than a good lawsuit,” Tanner said. “A settlement you can live with is generally better than fighting tooth and nail for the next two or more years.”
