Norman Brownstein, chairman of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, LLP, has shaped national public policy for more than four decades, earning the nickname “America’s 101st Senator” from Senators Ted Kennedy and Hank Brown for his bipartisan reach. After opening a Washington, D.C., government relations office in 1995, he built what has ranked as the nation’s top lobbying practice by revenue. His work spans tax, telecommunications, healthcare and civil rights legislation across six administrations. “I wanted our firm to be involved in the national debate, even though it was a Colorado-based law firm,” Brownstein has said. He received the National Law Journal’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022.
