The Mile Long Table will return to Denver on Aug. 1 as part of Colorado’s 150th anniversary celebration.
The event will bring together as many as 5,280 people for dinner at a mile-long table on the Main Campus Plaza at the National Western Center. The nonprofit Longer Tables is organizing the gathering with Southwest Airlines and Serendipity Catering.
Individual seats are available with a minimum donation of $5.28. Table-hosting opportunities start at $75.
“When we sit down, face one another, eat and share our stories, it connects us like nothing can,” said Tim Jones, founder and executive director of Longer Tables.
The menu will include pulled barbecue chicken, barbecue jackfruit, potato salad, Olathe sweet corn succotash, cornbread and birthday cake. Live music and activities also are planned.
The event is part of 150 Tables Across Colorado, a campaign encouraging communities to organize meals for the state’s anniversary. Southwest Airlines also will provide a limited number of complimentary flight passes for friends and relatives of registered participants to travel to Denver.
Registration, volunteer opportunities and information about hosting a table are available at [milelongtable.org](https://www.milelongtable.org/).
