LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Red Rocks Community College has named Kelyn Lanier director of the Colorado Small Business Development Center serving the Denver Metro area.
Lanier, a Colorado native, has operated a consulting firm since 2008. He has worked with local businesses to help them grow and has advised multiple Colorado SBDC centers since 2020.
The Denver Metro SBDC relocated to the Red Rocks Community College Lakewood campus in fall 2025. The center provides no-cost confidential advising, training and workshops, and connections to community resources for entrepreneurs and small business owners. The Colorado SBDC has operated since 1987.
“My intent really is to foster innovation and to create a high-performance culture able to meet the needs of our community where they need it most,” Lanier said. “There are always new opportunities, and sometimes entrepreneurs just need a little help adapting to the immediate challenges in order to turn them into opportunities. We can help them with that,” he added.
Lanier said his experience as a business owner informs his approach to the role.
“I know it would have been nice to know someone else who had the same challenges and not feel alone,” he said. “That’s what I want for this community. I want the Colorado SBDC to always be within arm’s reach of an entrepreneur or small business owner.”
