DENVER — The Regional Transportation District and the Colorado Minority Business Office have launched an online training module to help small and disadvantaged businesses compete for public contracts.
The course is part of the Colorado Business Learning Platform, developed by the state office within the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade. It includes on-demand lessons from RTD’s Small Business Opportunity Office on procurement processes, certification and bidding for public work. Content is available in English and Spanish.
The first course, “Doing Business with RTD,” covers the agency’s Small Business Enterprise program, vendor registration and certification requirements.
“Ensuring they have access to the tools and knowledge needed to compete for public contracts is essential,” said Alexis Serrano Castro, manager of RTD’s Small Business Opportunity Office.
Azarel Madrigal, director of the Colorado Minority Business Office, said the platform is intended to help entrepreneurs access new opportunities and grow within public contracting.
The platform is available online and additional courses are expected to be added.
