Alex Caravaggio is president of SWI Excavating, a Colorado-based company specializing in excavation and site utility services. Since taking the helm in 2021, he has led SWI through rapid growth and modernization, driving more than 500% revenue growth and a 300% increase in net income.
Caravaggio’s leadership philosophy is grounded in integrity, accountability and collaboration. He focuses on building long-term partnerships and empowering his team through transparency and shared purpose. “Leadership isn’t about having all the answers,” Caravaggio said. “It’s about asking the right questions, staying true to your principles and empowering your team to succeed.”
Before leading SWI Excavating, Caravaggio built a diverse career across engineering and operations in the energy sector. He served as a production and workover engineer at Anadarko Petroleum Corporation from 2016 to 2019, later joining Oxy as an integrated operations engineer. His early career in petroleum engineering gave him a strong technical foundation that continues to inform his approach to safety, efficiency and innovation in construction management.
In addition to his work with SWI, Caravaggio serves as president of Anago of Colorado and Anago of Southern Ohio, expanding his leadership across multiple industries. Under his direction, SWI has embraced cutting-edge technology, including GPS machine control and advanced utility locating systems, to increase precision, reduce rework and deliver projects ahead of schedule.
Caravaggio holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Denver and a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from Montana Technological University. He is a certified Project Management Professional and a Six Sigma Green Belt.
