TELLURIDE — The Alpine Club has named George Bigley as general manager as the private mountain club prepares for a planned 2027 opening.
The club, developed by Southworth in partnership with Telluride residents Scott and Lauren Woodward, will be located at San Sophia Station.
Bigley will oversee operations, staff and member services.
“Telluride holds a special place in my heart, as it’s where I met my wife and our daughter was born,” Bigley said. “The opportunity to return and help shape The Alpine Club is incredibly meaningful.”
Bigley most recently served as general manager at Willowbend on Cape Cod, a Southworth property, for three years. He previously spent nearly a decade in Telluride, where he opened Allred’s Restaurant and later became executive director of food and beverage for Telluride Ski & Golf. He also helped develop Alpino Vino.
He later opened The 10th restaurant on Vail Mountain and served as senior director of Vail’s Signature Clubs portfolio, overseeing private clubs including Vail Mountain Club and Beaver Creek Club. Earlier in his career, he held leadership roles at Charlie Trotter’s in Chicago and Las Vegas.
The Alpine Club will be a 26,000-square-foot facility offering dining, lounge space, fitness amenities and concierge services. The club will also include a golf and sports simulator room, ski valet and member lockers.
Construction is underway. Memberships are currently available ahead of the opening, with pre-opening access to events and programming.
Southworth, a Boston-based company founded in 1991, develops and operates private club communities in North America, the Caribbean and Europe.
