BOULDER — The City of Boulder has started construction on transit and intersection improvements along Broadway at Regent Drive and Table Mesa Drive.
The Broadway Transit Improvements Project includes a dedicated bus lane segment on Broadway, also known as Colorado Highway 93, and changes designed to improve bus travel times, reliability, safety and accessibility along the corridor.
Construction at Broadway and Regent Drive is expected to continue through mid-August. Additional work at Broadway and Table Mesa Drive, including a southbound bus left-turn lane, is scheduled to finish by the end of 2026.
Broadway between Regent Drive and Table Mesa Drive serves more than 12,000 bus riders daily. City officials said congestion along the corridor, particularly at Table Mesa Drive, causes bus delays during peak travel periods.
The project will affect vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian traffic during construction. Daily lane closures are expected, and the Broadway and Regent Drive bus stops will temporarily close, with riders rerouted to the Broadway and Euclid Avenue stops. The Broadway multi-use path will also be detoured through the University of Colorado main campus for about three months.
Construction is scheduled on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The project received $3.98 million in funding from the Colorado Department of Transportation and a Transportation Improvement Program grant distributed by the Denver Regional Council of Governments.
The work is part of Boulder’s Core Arterial Network initiative, a long-term effort to redesign 13 major city corridors.
