Carrie Gusmus is chief executive officer of Aslan Home Lending, a Denver-based residential mortgage company known for combining innovation with a deeply human approach to financial services. Since founding the firm in 2019, Gusmus has built Aslan into a multistate lender operating in 32 states, approaching $750 million in funded loans, and recognized among Colorado’s top privately owned and woman-owned companies.
Gusmus began her career in mortgage lending more than two decades ago, holding leadership positions at major firms including Bank of America, Guild Mortgage and Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation. She served as senior vice president of national production at Cherry Creek Mortgage before launching Aslan Home Lending, where she now leads a 50-person team committed to growth, integrity and client trust.
Her leadership philosophy centers on empathy, purpose and empowerment. “The most powerful results come when people feel seen, supported and inspired,” she explained. Gusmus has built a deliberately developmental culture that encourages team members to lead from every level. In challenging markets, she focuses on transparency and adaptability, reminding her team that they don’t just help people buy homes; they help them build legacies.
Under her direction, Aslan Home Lending has implemented cutting-edge technology to improve efficiency, shorten closing times and enhance customer experience. She also launched the Implementor Masterclass, a free public education initiative offering tools for personal and business success.
Beyond the office, Gusmus serves on several nonprofit and community boards and supports organizations including Food Bank of the Rockies and National Jewish Health.
