Colorado Pint Day will return April 29, with proceeds supporting the and a commemorative glass design marking Colorado’s 150th anniversary and the United States’ 250th anniversary.

In Brief:
  • returns April 29 at participating craft breweries statewide.
  • Each collectible pint glass sold donates $1 to the Colorado Brewers Guild.
  • This year’s glass design celebrates Colorado’s 150th anniversary and America’s 250th anniversary.
  • Denver artist created the winning design featuring dinosaurs and Rocky Mountain imagery.

The Colorado Brewers Guild, a nonprofit trade organization representing independent craft breweries, will host the annual event at participating breweries across the state. The fundraiser is scheduled on a Wednesday, typically a slower day for breweries. For every pint glass sold, $1 will be donated to the guild to support advocacy, education and public awareness efforts for its members.

The guild has held an art competition for the collectible glass design for the past five years. This year’s winning artist is Denver-based doodle artist Joe Palec.

“Winning the Pint Day Artist of the Year is a dream. It is an excellent opportunity to mix my two loves, art and beer,” Palec said. “Being one amongst the many talented people that share this same honor will be something I cherish and look back on for years to come. I cannot wait to cross that finish line when I am sipping an ice-cold beer from a pint glass of my design.”

Palec, originally from Milwaukee, has lived in Denver for 15 years. His work includes murals, product packaging, retail installations and gallery exhibits. He said friends at Renegade Brewery encouraged him to enter the competition.

Palec said his design was inspired by a birthday party theme with a Colorado focus. The artwork includes dinosaurs set in a Rocky Mountain landscape.

“The whole idea of this piece was to look spectacular on a pint glass but also to entertain,” Palec said. “Much like the back of a cereal box, I want patrons to look and discover the many different elements on their glass as they belly up to the bar.”

The list of participating breweries will be announced at a later date.
