DENVER — FEMA has made nearly $15 million available for hazard mitigation projects in Colorado, Montana and Utah through its Pre-Disaster Mitigation grant program.
The funding is intended to support projects that address flood, earthquake and wildfire risks before disasters occur.
The projects were authorized by Congress through the Fiscal Year 2026 Homeland Security and Further Additional Continuing Appropriations Act. Nationwide, FEMA expects more than $189 million in federal funding to support 125 projects in 40 states and one Tribal Nation.
Three Colorado projects were selected for funding consideration:
Additional projects include $2.4 million for flood control levee improvements in Glasgow, Montana, and $1.7 million for the Holladay City Hall seismic retrofit project in Utah.
Communities seeking the funding must submit applications by 5 p.m. Eastern Time on July 22, 2026. FEMA will review applications and award funds after determining eligibility requirements have been met.
Applications must be submitted through FEMA Grants Outcomes, the agency’s grants management system.
