JD Coslett is chief strategy officer at Ward Electric Company Inc., a Colorado-based, family-owned electrical contractor specializing in high-voltage, renewable energy and commercial projects across the United States. With more than two decades of industry experience, Coslett has built a career defined by servant leadership, operational excellence and a commitment to fostering strong, people-centered teams.
Since rejoining Ward Electric in 2019, Coslett has helped lead the company through a period of rapid expansion, contributing to a 51% increase in revenue and more than 6,900% in net income from 2023 to 2024. He previously served as vice president of estimating and project management, then as director of corporate development and strategy, before being named chief strategy officer in 2025. His leadership has been instrumental in developing internal programs that emphasize safety, mentorship and continuous learning.
Before returning to Ward Electric, Coslett held management positions with National Powerline, Hooper Corporation and Sturgeon Electric, where he gained extensive experience in project management and field operations. Earlier in his career, he co-owned Utility Plus Inc. and worked as a journeyman lineman with Par Electrical Contractors.
A lifelong learner, Coslett earned a master’s degree in power transmission and distribution technology from Oklahoma State University and has completed advanced leadership and negotiation programs through Harvard Business School, Cornell University and the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs.
