The Vaisala Headquarters solar installation in Louisville, Colorado, is a 228-kW renewable energy project that includes rooftop arrays on both flat and pitched roofs and a groundbreaking vertical solar façade. Namaste Solar led the project, installing 492 modules across 14,000 square feet of surface area and designing a unique rail-less mounting system that could withstand wind speeds of up to 145 mph. The façade system required custom engineering to meet structural and aesthetic goals without penetrating the existing standing seam wall.
Working with OZ Architecture, JVA Consulting Engineers and Andrew Humphrey Engineering, the team overcame challenges posed by the building’s orientation, high wind loads and complex geometry. Namaste Solar employed innovative technologies, including building image modeling (BIM) coordination, Trimble construction layout and Holobuilder 360 imaging for quality assurance. Custom scaffolding and rigorous fall protection measures ensured zero injuries during installation.
This project offsets 69% of the building’s annual electricity usage, avoiding emissions equal to 22,000 gallons of gasoline. By combining rooftop and vertical installations, Vaisala maximized limited space and achieved an Energy Use Intensity of 28. The system supports the company’s global sustainability goals and positions the facility as one of the most energy-efficient offices in Colorado, setting a new standard for architectural solar integration.
