FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Broadbent & Associates Inc. has added two professionals to its Fort Collins office, hiring Sharon Seiler as a project engineer and Niah B.H. Venable as a senior hydrogeologist.
Seiler will support engineering design and permitting for community infrastructure projects, including water effluent treatment and other environmental initiatives. She previously worked for LJA Engineering and has also held engineering positions with Horvath and Associates, now Qunity, Arendell Engineers and the City of Deltona.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Colorado State University and is a licensed professional engineer in Colorado and North Carolina.
Venable brings more than 25 years of experience in hydrogeology, hydrology, watershed science, natural resource management and environmental research. As senior hydrogeologist, she will manage projects involving groundwater, water resources and environmental consulting in Colorado and other parts of the United States.
Before joining Broadbent, Venable was a hydrologist with Colorado State University’s Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands, where she worked on environmental and natural resource management projects supporting military installations. Her career also includes positions with Colorado State University’s Department of Ecosystem Science and Sustainability, the Colorado State Forest Service, Aloterra Restoration Services, Western Michigan University, the Michigan Geological Repository for Research and Education and the Wisconsin and Michigan departments of natural resources.
Venable earned a doctorate in watershed science and hydrology from Colorado State University, a master’s degree in hydrogeology from Western Michigan University and a bachelor’s degree in forestry with a minor in geology from Oklahoma State University. She also holds a Professional GIS Certificate in Geospatial Data Analytics and Visualization from Michigan State University. She has authored or co-authored more than 20 scientific publications and contributed to more than 100 climate vulnerability, resilience and natural resource management reports for the U.S. military.
“Sharon’s practical approach to engineering and experience in water and wastewater projects, permitting and municipal engineering make her a great fit for Broadbent,” said Randy Miller, president and principal engineer at Broadbent.
Miller also said Venable’s experience in environmental consulting, groundwater systems and watershed science “will be a valuable asset to our clients and project teams.”
