DENVER — Colorado workforce groups will host a job and volunteer fair and a series of career education sessions aimed at residents age 50 and older.
The job and volunteer fair is scheduled for April 30 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Apex Community Rec Center in Arvada. The event is open to people seeking employment, considering career changes or exploring new opportunities. Employers and organizations can also promote volunteer roles, some of which may lead to paid positions.
Free booth space is available for employers, and attendees can register in advance. Organizers said the event aims to connect businesses with experienced workers.
“Colorado is fortunate to have a strong, active workforce of talented people 50 years of age and older,” said Karen Brown, founder of iAging.
A series of free career education sessions will also be held at the recreation center, with one virtual session scheduled earlier in the series. Topics include using artificial intelligence in job searches, personal branding, resume writing, interview preparation and LinkedIn use.
“It’s a win-win for everyone, and the Colorado economy is stronger when utilizing the skills of a diverse workforce,” said Janine Vanderburg, founder of Encore Roadmap.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Colorado had nearly 6 million residents as of mid-2024, including about 930,000 people age 65 and older, or about 16% of the population.
Partners for the events include the Colorado Commission on Aging and the Apex Community Recreation Center.
