DENVER — Denver Film on Thursday announced its Colorado Spotlight program for the 48th Denver Film Festival (DFF48), highlighting feature films, documentaries and shorts with direct ties to the state.
The festival will run Oct. 31 through Nov. 9 at venues across the Denver metro area, including the Sie FilmCenter, Ellie Caulkins Opera House, Denver Botanic Gardens and MCA Denver at the Holiday Theater.
The 2025 Colorado Spotlight will feature 19 films, including five features, five documentary shorts and nine narrative shorts. The selections showcase stories and filmmakers rooted in Colorado, with subjects ranging from immigrant laborers and small-town identity to wildfire recovery and experimental animation.
“Programming the Colorado Shorts section of our annual festival is an absolute blast,” said programming manager Ambriehl Turrentine. “We’ve got just about everything — wild horrors, clever comedies, imaginative sci-fi, mind-blowing animation — all produced right here in Colorado. And the best part is the community. There’s a wonderful mix of DFF alumni and first-time filmmakers, all bringing bold, fearless storytelling to the screen.”
Denver Film said the Colorado Spotlight emphasizes the creativity, resilience and innovation of local filmmakers.
The full festival program will be announced Oct. 4. Tickets go on sale to Denver Film members Oct. 5 and to the public Oct. 6 at denverfilm.org.
