Lufthansa resumed daily Airbus A380 service between Denver International Airport and Munich on July 2, marking the second consecutive summer the airline has operated the aircraft on the route.
Lufthansa remains the only airline operating the Airbus A380 at Denver International Airport. The aircraft increases capacity on the daily Denver-Munich route with 509 seats, including eight in First Class, 78 in Business Class, 52 in Premium Economy and 371 in Economy.
“This is the second consecutive summer season that Lufthansa’s A380 aircraft is serving the Denver and Rocky Mountain region, which reinforces the high level of commitment that we have to the market as we once again increase capacity for these busy travel months,” said Dirk Janzen, vice president of passenger airlines sales for the Americas at Lufthansa Group.
Flight LH480 departed Munich at 11:54 a.m. local time and is scheduled to arrive in Denver at 1:45 p.m. Flight LH481 departs Denver at 4:15 p.m. and arrives in Munich at 10 a.m. the following day. The route operates daily.
The airline also introduced its new long-haul onboard service program, known as Future Onboard Experience, or FOX, across all travel classes. The service focuses on expanded passenger choice, comfort and personalized amenities.
Lufthansa is also retrofitting its eight Airbus A380 aircraft with a redesigned Business Class. The updated cabin will feature 68 seats with direct aisle access, beds at least 2 meters long and privacy partitions.
“We are grateful to Lufthansa for once again entrusting DEN with the operation of its Airbus A380, the largest passenger aircraft in the world,” said Denver International Airport CEO Phil Washington. “The enthusiasm this aircraft generated during its first season at our airport exceeded all expectations and its return reflects both the strength of the Denver market and the success of our longstanding partnership with Lufthansa.”
The airline is celebrating several milestones in 2026, including its 100th anniversary, 25 years of nonstop service between Denver and Frankfurt and 10 years of nonstop service between Denver and Munich.
Denver International Airport and Munich International Airport have maintained a sister airport partnership since 1991, allowing the airports to exchange operational knowledge and employee training programs.
