Gail Riley is the owner of Highland Haven Creekside Inn, a historic lodging destination in Evergreen that she and her husband, Tom, purchased in 1979. Under her leadership, the once struggling motel has become a nationally recognized inn featuring guest rooms, cottages, suites and a signature TreeHouse surrounded by the natural beauty of Bear Creek. The property has earned multiple honors, including recognition among the top 10% of TripAdvisor properties for several years.
Riley’s impact extends well beyond hospitality. She has spent decades strengthening the Evergreen community through leadership, philanthropy and creative initiatives. She helped establish the Evergreen Legacy Foundation, with Highland Haven contributing 1% of guest stays to fund community improvements including crosswalks, trails, bike lanes and pedestrian connections. She also has supported Sculpture Evergreen, helping select more than 55 permanent sculptures throughout the community.
A champion for public art, Riley has organized community murals including “Blossoms at the Dam” at Evergreen Lake and the “Tunnel of Love” project, transforming public spaces through collaboration with local artists, students and businesses. She has served on boards including the Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Evergreen and the Evergreen Literary Festival.
Riley mentors future hospitality professionals through Warren Tech, supporting students with industry guidance, interviews and career development. She has also written three books celebrating Colorado’s communities and culture. Recognized as one of the first women inducted into the Mountain Area Hall of Fame, Riley continues to support local businesses, nonprofits and residents through a lifelong commitment to making Evergreen a better place.
