Kirk Monroe, 56, joined Ryan Companies as president of Rocky Mountain Region in 2022, overseeing healthcare, industrial, multifamily, and mixed-use projects for the Minneapolis-based firm. Prior to his move into the company’s Denver office, Monroe worked in banking for 30 years, often partnering with Ryan as a lender.

In Monroe’s view, power equates to leadership. “In development and construction, power is collaboration, leading by example and empowering others to do the right thing,” he explained. “Ryan Companies thrives on a culture of collaboration, integrity, and the belief that every team member’s contribution is vital.”

Monroe still leans on lessons from his banking experience at Ryan. “A deal isn’t truly alive or dead until it’s signed,” he said. “Opportunities often come back around, so I never consider a deal finished until it’s completely buried.”
