LITTLETON, Colo. — Left Field Publishing will launch a monthly literary event series in Denver this summer as part of a broader effort to connect readers and writers through in-person programming.
The first Left Field Literary Salon will take place on July 16, from 7-9 p.m., at the historic Denver Press Club. Organizers said the event is the first in a planned series of monthly gatherings focused on literature, conversation and community engagement.
Founded in Colorado, Left Field Publishing publishes cross-genre works and operates writing programs, reader initiatives and author events.
“We didn’t want to simply publish books,” said co-founder Kristen Gilligan. “We wanted to build community around them.”
The inaugural event will include a book swap, literary trivia with authors, tarot readings, close-up card magic and interactive activities. Organizers said future salons may feature book-themed social events, discussions on censorship and free speech and other literary programming.
Portions of event proceeds will benefit the Denver Press Club and the Colorado chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union.
“We think people are hungry for meaningful connection,” Gilligan said. “Books have always created communities. We’re simply creating more places for those communities to happen.”
The event is limited to 160 attendees. Ticket prices include admission and a donation to the Denver Press Club and the Colorado ACLU. A VIP option includes a literary-themed gift bag and a complimentary drink ticket.
Left Field Publishing said the salon series is part of its ongoing efforts to support authors and create opportunities for readers and writers to connect beyond traditional publishing channels.
Tickets available on the website.
