Colorado Springs-based Goat Patch Brewing Company announced Monday the pending acquisition of Pikes Peak Brewing Company, a craft brewer in Monument founded 13 years ago.

Goat Patch Brewing, which opened in 2017, cited the synergy between both breweries’ missions, visions and values, and the planned retirement of Pikes Peak Brewing Company founders Chris and Judi Wright from the brewing industry as catalysts in the transaction.

“It has been an honor to serve our Monument neighbors and the Colorado craft beer community,” Chris Wright said in a statement announcing the sale. “The bonds we’ve formed over the past 13+ years have meant the world to me and our entire staff. I am excited to watch the future of Pikes Peak Brewing with the continued support from Monument and the Colorado craft beer consumer.”

Justin Grant, co-owner of Goat Patch Brewing, said he hopes to build on what the Pikes Peak Brewing Company owners have established, while maintaining the Pikes Peak brand.

“Our goal is to merge the strengths of both breweries, ensuring that the spirit of Pikes Peak Brewing Company remains a cornerstone of the Monument community while expanding what both brands can accomplish together,” Grant said.

Goat Patch Brewing currently operates at a 3,000-BBL capacity; the 10,000-BBL production facility at Pikes Peak
Brewing Company provides an opportunity for growth for Goat Patch, which will assume operations once licensing is officially transferred.

PPBC’s current Monument location will remain Pikes Peak Brewing Company.

“This acquisition isn’t just about increasing our capacity—it’s about continuing a story that has meant so much to the Craft Beer community in southern Colorado for over a decade,” said Cate Baze, co-owner of Goat Patch Brewing Company. “We see this as a baton being passed, and we’re excited to carry it forward with the same passion and dedication that PPBC has always been known for.”

The sale of PPBC to GPB is expected to close by the end of the year, but due to the license transfer process, a final closing date is not set.

Goat Patch also announced Monday it plans to open a new location in the Northgate neighborhood of Colorado Springs in spring of 2025.
