After cutting her teeth in natural resources law, Allison P. Altaras moved into real estate law, and now leverages her environmental and land-use acumen to propel her practice as a partner at Holland & Hart in Denver. Altaras advises developers, investors, and landowners on projects across the Rocky Mountain region, and her natural resources experience also helps her counsel rural and mountain property owners on conservation, access, and other matters.

Real estate law “really works all the quadrants of the brain,” said Altaras. “What keeps me inspired are advancements in technology—like battery technology and green building materials—and policy advancements that support housing attainability and quality of life.”

She added, “It’s much more a team effort than a personal accomplishment, but working on legislative efforts to support housing attainability and environmental conservation has been very fulfilling.”

Altaras also pointed out the importance of sharing knowledge between peers of all ages: “Never underestimate the power of an intergenerational friendship. We all have much to learn from one another, and we can, if we stay open and curious.”
