Colorado launches eHealth data sharing challenge

DENVER — Lt. Gov. Dianne Primavera, the Colorado Office of eHealth Innovation and the Colorado Smart Cities Alliance on Tuesday launched the eHealth Solutions Challenge, a statewide initiative focused on improving health-related data sharing across systems and sectors.

The program connects participating governmental and intergovernmental agencies with technology providers and offers up to $150,000 in seed funding to test data-sharing solutions. Individual projects may receive up to $50,000, with funding available for as many as six pilot efforts.
The challenge seeks technologies that support interoperability and data analysis across agencies and jurisdictions while maintaining data security, privacy and data sovereignty.
Primavera said improving health care access, quality and affordability has been a priority of the administration and that the program is intended to support collaboration among state and local agencies.
The core question guiding the challenge is how to increase interoperability and analysis of health and health-related data across multiple agencies and organizations while preserving security, privacy and sovereignty.
