DENVER — Game Set Mahj has launched a platform that helps American mahjong players organize games, manage groups and find other players.
The Denver-based platform has attracted more than 1,000 users since entering beta testing, according to the company. Users range from college students to people in their 80s.
Game Set Mahj lets players, clubs, teachers, restaurants, and other hosts schedule games, manage multiple groups, and coordinate tables of four players. An automated waitlist fills openings when players cancel.
Other features include group chats, event pages, calendar synchronization, reminders, scoring and optional leaderboards. Users also can sort tables based on skill level and seating preferences, share photos and coordinate items such as mahjong sets and potluck dishes.
The platform’s Mahj Near Me directory helps users find nearby players and groups or create groups in their communities.
“I built Game Set Mahj to solve the pain points I experienced every week, including chaotic, endless text threads, constant logistical follow-ups and always struggling to find a fourth player,” founder Jennifer Parnell said.
Game Set Mahj is free during its beta period. The company plans to add tools for instructors and businesses.
