DURA awards nearly $1 million in grants to 26 Denver organizations

DENVER — The Denver Urban Renewal Authority () has awarded nearly $1 million in Community STAND (C-STAND) grants to 26 , nonprofits and across Denver.

The grants will support facility improvements, equipment upgrades, expanded programming and operational needs for organizations located in Downtown, East Colfax, Welton, and other urban renewal areas.

“Strong neighborhoods are built by the people and organizations that show up for their communities every day,” said April Simmons, DURA’s director of community investment. “Whether it’s by expanding programs, improving facilities or creating new opportunities for residents, these investments help organizations continue doing the work that matters most.”

The 2026 recipients are Black American West Museum & Heritage Center, BlueBird Colfax BID, Pho Social LLC, Colfax BID, Colfax Mayfair BID, Daddy Bruce Black Business Center, Denver Inner City Parish Inc., Duke’s Apron Bakery, Embassy Christian Church, Exclusive Cuts Barber Shop LLC, Great Wall Restaurant, La Abeja Restaurant, Latino Cultural Arts Center, Make A Chess Move, Mile High Ministries, R&R Head Labs, Sahrai’s Kitchen, Senior Support Services, SAME Café, Sun Valley Kitchen and Community Center, TeaLee’s Tea House & Bookstore, Celebration Community Church, Mexico City Restaurant and Lounge, Wezesha DADA Center, Winning Coiffures and Dance 2b.

The Community STAND program launched in 2024 with 13 grants totaling $524,014. This year’s first funding round nearly doubles that investment, supporting 26 organizations.

Eligible applicants include small businesses with $2 million or less in annual gross revenue, with 501(c)(3) status and $5 million or less in annual gross revenue and business improvement districts. Applicants must be located within the City and County of Denver and inside an existing or within one-half mile of one.

The next Community STAND funding round is scheduled to open in late fall 2026.
