Megan Sherr, 50, pivoted into family law in 2003 after serving as a deputy district attorney under District Attorney Bill Ritter in Denver. Now president and CEO of Denver-based Sherr Puttmann Akins Lamb PC, Sherr said she loves practicing family law because of the variety.

“No two cases in my world are alike,” she said. “They all have different fact patterns, different people, different kids, different case issues. As a divorce attorney, you’re a jane or jack of all trades, and you have to master lots of different areas of law and business and bring that all together, and quarterback it. Every time I do a case, I learn something.”

Sherr also draws on her own personal experience in her work. “I am a child of divorce,” said Sherr. “Then unfortunately, I went through my own divorce in 2009 and into 2010. Through my experience, personal and professional, I’ve grown, and that’s made me a better attorney.”
