Mile High Flea Market plans 50th anniversary event in Henderson

Mile High Flea Market will celebrate its 50th anniversary Aug. 29 with entertainment, activities and giveaways.
The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the market, 7007 E. 88th Ave. in Henderson. Admission is $3, and children younger than 8 are admitted free.
Activities will include a birthday party for the market’s mascot, Freddie the Flea, along with cupcakes, goodie bags, a piñata and lawn games.
Mariachi los Viajeros de Denver will perform from 11 a.m. to noon. The event also will feature face painting, caricatures from noon to 2 p.m., a photo booth from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a family comedy show from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Food vendors and family rides also will be available.
“What we’re really celebrating is the people who made Mile High Flea Market what it is,” Matt Dupuie, vice president of marketing for United Flea Markets, said. “Mile High has always been more than a flea market.”
The 80-acre market has more than 3,000 sellers each weekend, according to the company. It includes outdoor vendors, enclosed shops, a farmers market, children’s rides, food vendors and live music.
