GYPSUM, Colo. — Roundup River Ranch is marking its 20th anniversary after providing nearly 40,000 camper experiences for children with serious illnesses and their families since opening in 2006.
The nonprofit offers free, medically supported camp programs designed for children with life-altering diagnoses. Programs are held at its ranch in Colorado as well as through hospital outreach, community-based initiatives and virtual offerings.
Since its founding, the organization has provided 39,444 camper experiences. Programs are designed to support independence and connection while allowing children to participate in traditional camp activities in a medically safe environment.
As it enters its third decade, Roundup River Ranch plans to expand access to its programs and strengthen medical and behavioral health support. The organization said it will continue to adapt how and where it serves families while maintaining medical standards.
“Reaching 20 years reflects the strength of what has been built and the need that remains,” said Sarah Johnson, president and CEO of Roundup River Ranch. She said the organization plans to increase access and continue developing services for children and families.
To mark the anniversary, Roundup River Ranch has introduced a new logo and redesigned its website. The updates reflect the organization’s growth and focus on future programming.
The anniversary theme, “20 Years of Powering Hope & Joy,” highlights the role of recreation in helping children manage illness. Campers participate in activities intended to build confidence and relationships outside of a medical setting.
Roundup River Ranch said its programs are supported by donors, volunteers, staff, medical professionals and community partners. All programs are offered at no cost to families.
The organization plans a yearlong anniversary effort that includes volunteer opportunities, fundraising initiatives and events in Denver and the Vail Valley.
More information about anniversary activities is available at roundupriverranch.org/20th.
