Shira Zimmerman is a transformative leader whose vision and dedication have elevated Colorado’s nonprofit sector and strengthened communities across the region. As CEO of ZIM Consulting since 2007, Shira has built the firm into a dynamic woman-owned company that employs more than 20 professionals and has empowered over 500 nonprofits to grow and sustain their missions through data-driven grant writing, strategic planning and innovative fundraising practices.
Her leadership was especially vital during the pandemic when she created and distributed a weekly list of more than 50 foundations funding nonprofits. This lifeline enabled countless organizations to keep their doors open while serving vulnerable populations. She also guided more than two dozen clients through successful PPP loan applications at no additional cost.
Over the past year, Shira expanded ZIM’s services to meet critical gaps in the sector, launching a recruitment division to help nonprofits with succession planning and Board development. Her proactive response to federal funding cuts in early 2025 included rallying new funders to build an emergency capital fund to keep life-saving services operational.
Beyond ZIM, Shira’s community impact is far-reaching. She founded Colorado Jewish Professional Women to foster connection and empowerment for women across industries and continues to mentor emerging nonprofit leaders. She also launched a Senior Services Committee to strengthen partnerships among nonprofits supporting Colorado’s aging population and led the Federal Grant Guidance Initiative to help nonprofits navigate complex funding changes.
Through her strategic vision and unwavering commitment, Shira Zimmerman sets a high bar for leadership, innovation and community impact.
