Shawn Thomson is the driving force behind RMC‘s remarkable journey from a single Aspen operation in 1989 to becoming the largest privately owned destination management company in the United States. As founder and CEO, Shawn has grown RMC to 30-plus destinations nationwide with revenues exceeding $55 million and plans to double that figure within four years. Her vision and leadership have secured RMC’s place on the INC 5000 List of Fastest Growing Companies in the U.S. and earned the company Colorado’s Top Company Hospitality Award and a Stevie Award for Great Employers.
Known for her innovative spirit and people-first philosophy, Shawn empowers her teams to reach ambitious goals while fostering a culture of passion, talent and collaboration. This past year, she guided RMC through significant growth, expanding staff by nearly 50 percent and opening thriving new divisions in Santa Fe and Charleston. Her focus on talent development includes robust training and mentorship, setting up her team for long-term success.
Shawn’s impact reaches beyond her company’s walls. She instills the values of kindness and generosity throughout RMC’s operations and her personal life. Under her leadership, RMC actively supports philanthropic initiatives in every community it serves, sponsoring events like the Trashmasters Tournament and programs for JAS Aspen and Basalt High School’s music department.
With her daughter Sarah now serving as Chief of Staff, Shawn continues to lead by example, demonstrating that success built on compassion, authenticity and unwavering commitment can inspire entire communities and industries.
