Berthoud-based Ursa Major has received a $10 million U.S. Navy contract to advance development of its MK 104 solid rocket motor through critical design review and static fire testing.
The contract expands the company’s work with the Navy, following a previous $25 million joint investment in solid rocket motor prototyping.
“With this contract, we’re expanding our partnership with the U.S. Navy to build a faster, more resilient and more innovative solid rocket motor supply base,” Jason Meredith, president of solid missile systems at Ursa Major, said. “Solid rocket motor production has become the bottleneck in missile manufacturing.”
Ursa Major said it will use its Lynx manufacturing process to complete the work. The company said its production approach can manufacture hundreds of solid rocket motors annually.
