Tomecek Studio Architecture

Founder and principal of his namesake Denver studio, Brad Tomecek, 52, was the 2022 AIA Colorado Architect of the Year for work that balances innovation, sustainability, and creativity. Former president of AIA Denver, Tomecek also teaches design studios at University of Colorado’s College of Architecture and Planning.
“A lot of the work we do is focused on creating unique places with attention on both the client and the user,” saud Tomecek. “I think that we do a good job of really kind of deep probing and listening to make sure that our projects function really well. There’s certainly an artistry to building I think we bring to the projects, and I think we think of building as an art form.”
While he said he didn’t want to echo any particular web-slinging superhero, Tomecek said the power of architecture comes with great responsibility. “You’re entrusted with making something that hopefully is going to be there for a very long time. The challenge is getting it right, which means different things to different projects at different times.”
