Colorado firms join national defense consortium

BOULDER, Colo. — Three Colorado companies have joined the Defense Industrial Base Consortium, a national group that collaborates on research and production related to defense.

Alta Resource Technologies Inc. and Travertine Technologies Inc., both based in Boulder, and Cogency Power Inc., based in Montrose, were among several companies added to the consortium in a recent filing with the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission.
The consortium operates under the National Cooperative Research and Production Act of 1993, which allows members to collaborate on defense-related projects while maintaining compliance with antitrust laws. Membership is open to companies nationwide, and additions are regularly reported to federal agencies.
Participation in the consortium can give members access to opportunities for growth, collaboration and involvement in national defense initiatives. Local officials say the inclusion of these Colorado firms could increase business activity and economic opportunities in their respective communities.
The latest update also added companies from across the country. In Texas, Agile Operations Inc. of Fair Oaks Ranch and Allen Control Systems Inc. of Austin joined the consortium. California additions included ARCortex Inc. of Marina Del Rey, Armada Systems Inc. of San Francisco and Brimstone Energy Inc. of Oakland.
New York companies Buell Automatics Inc. of Rochester and Imvela Corp., doing business as Kingdom Supercultures, of Brooklyn were also named. In Pennsylvania, Ampal Inc. of Palmerton and Creative Engineers Inc. of New Freedom joined.
Other new members include American Renaissance Minerals LLC of Coral Gables, Florida, Fonon Technologies Inc. of Orlando, Florida, ARMEL Corp. of White Hall, Arkansas, and AsterTech LLC of Dayton, Ohio.
Consortium leaders say the growing membership reflects the need for collaboration across industries and regions to support national defense goals.
