DENVER — Colorado Parks and Wildlife is offering free entry to all state parks on Friday as part of its annual Fresh Air Friday event, giving residents and visitors an alternative to Black Friday shopping.
The Nov. 28 promotion encourages people to spend time outdoors during the holiday weekend. Gov. Jared Polis said the free day provides a chance to enjoy Colorado’s landscapes, try new outdoor activities and spend time with family and friends.
Fresh Air Friday gives visitors access to the state’s 42 parks, which offer hiking, wildlife viewing and other recreational opportunities. CPW encourages visitors to use the online State Park Finder to explore activities available at each location.
The agency also advises guests to plan ahead by consulting the Colorado State Parks Guide, checking for events on the CPW calendar and preparing for rapidly changing mountain weather by bringing layers.
For those looking to combine outdoor recreation with holiday deals, CPW is offering 25 percent off retail items on cpwshop.com and at park visitor centers and offices from Nov. 28 through Dec. 1. The discount excludes ammunition, gasoline, food, firewood, wildlife licenses, park passes and registration products.
Colorado residents can visit state parks year-round by purchasing the $29 Keep Colorado Wild Pass when renewing vehicle registrations. The pass helps fund park maintenance, search and rescue efforts, avalanche safety work and outdoor education programs.
