DENVER — , Daifuku and Industrial Constructors/Managers Inc. (ICM) have been awarded a contract to install a new in Concourse A at .

In Brief:
  • Gilmore Construction, Daifuku and Industrial Constructors/Managers will install a new baggage handling system at Denver International Airport.
  • The automated system will be installed in Concourse A as part of the airport’s expansion project.
  • ICM will install thousands of feet of conveyor systems and eight baggage makeup units supplied by Daifuku.
  • The project is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2027 and support DEN’s goal of serving 100 million passengers by 2030.

Gilmore will serve as the general contractor. Daifuku will provide and integrate the baggage handling system and ICM will serve as the lead mechanical subcontractor.

ICM will install thousands of feet of conveyor systems and eight baggage makeup units as part of the project. The system will move bags from the concourse center core to module 10 west and is part of the Concourse A expansion. The project is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2027.

Jamie Hodges, executive vice president at ICM, said the work builds on a previous project that improved baggage transfer and sorting between the tarmac and the airport basement.

“ICM’s work includes structural steel framing and installation of the baggage system, building on an earlier Concourse A and B project that improved bag transfer and sorting between the tarmac and the basement,” Hodges said.

Construction will move from west to east, starting with structural steel framing, followed by installation of conveyor equipment. Modules five through 10 are scheduled for completion first, followed by modules one through four.

“This project underscores the strength of the partnership between Gilmore, Daifuku and ICM, whose combined expertise ensures both efficiency and quality at every stage,” said Steve King, construction manager of aviation at Gilmore.

Navwant Thakur, senior project manager at Daifuku, said the new system will help the airport handle future passenger growth.

“Integrating and automating DEN’s baggage handling system will help Denver International Airport reach its vision to serve 100 million passengers by 2030,” Thakur said.
