AURORA, Colo. — Community College of Aurora has incorporated the former BuildStrong Academy of Colorado into the college as a construction workforce training program.
The CCA BuildStrong Academy offers an industry-recognized certificate and hands-on instruction developed with construction companies. The college plans to add accredited construction credentials in future academic years.
The academy operates at CCA’s CentreTech Campus in the Center for Applied Science and Technology. It connects students with employers through career fairs and other workforce programs.
CCA and BuildStrong Academy began working together in 2017, sharing instructional space and developing curricula that combine classroom education with practical construction training. The integration formalizes that relationship and connects the academy with CCA’s academic programs and student services.
“Becoming part of the college is the natural next step in that journey,” said Allison Stepnitz, the former BuildStrong Academy director who now serves as CCA’s dean of workforce. “It allows us to expand access to high-quality construction training while connecting students to accredited credentials and clear career pathways.”
The program aims to prepare students for construction careers and help employers address the shortage of skilled workers.
