A medical doctor and an attorney, Joseph Ramos, 54, worked in emergency medicine before embarking on his law career and founding Ramos Law in 2011. The firm now has seven Colorado offices and one in Phoenix
He said his medical background informed his decision to go into personal injury law: “I saw the people who would come into the emergency department and talk about an injury from 15 years earlier, and they were there with back pain or neck pain. I saw the people who would come in acutely after a rollover crash with a fractured neck, and I saw the effects now and the effects in the future.”
Ramos also said growing up poor in rural Nevada provided him with insight on medical insurance, and lack thereof. “As an attorney, I appreciate what people are going through,” said Ramos. “When people come to attorneys, they can’t pay their medical bills and the hospitals and the ambulance are coming after them, and so I personally relate to that all the way back to my past. I think that’s made me more compassionate, more understanding, and more tenacious in practicing law.”
