The historic Exchange at the National Western Complex is set to host a major new attraction during the National Western Stock Show in January.
The Wide Open Saloon, one of Sedalia’s most popular entertainment venues, will establish a limited-time residence — Wide Open @ The Stockyards.
The establishment will transform a prime space at The Exchange into a destination for Stock Show attendees, exhibitors and visitors from Jan. 8-24.
The Exchange, a central hub of activity during the annual event, will be transformed into a full bar and dining hall, operating with extended hours from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m.
Riot BBQ, led by Chef Manny Barella and Pitmaster Patrick Klaiber, will provide the food. Barella was named a James Beard Emerging Chef semifinalist, and Klaiber is a Michelin Bib Gourmand-recognized pitmaster. The fare will be Central Texas-style BBQ infused with Northern Mexican flair.
Entertainment includes solo and duo acts during the day and full bands spanning country, rock and regional favorites in the evenings. There is no cover charge to get into the venue.
“Wide Open has always been about bringing people together over good music and good food, and there is no better place to do that than the stockyards during National Western,” said co-owner Todd Hills.
Wide Open Saloon opened in March 2020 at the historic Johnson’s Corner truck stop in Sedalia. The venue has become a destination for riders, road trippers and music lovers, with five gathering areas, indoor-outdoor dining and weekly live country and rock performances.
